Dramatic Lives

Life stories can be dramatic, scary, joyous and uplifting. It’s a wonderful challenge for me to capture a life story in one image. Using photos and stories from the subject directly, and sometimes from friends and family, I create a painting that captures the pivotal life changing moments that take you from despair to hope, fear to confidence, mouse to lion.

Passed Lives

When the chance to capture new photos have gone, it’s an honour for me to create a portrait of a loved one for you. I love to be a little surreal, placing the person into situations or locations that suit their personality. Using photos and stories gathered from the people that knew the subject best, I use their favourite colours, items and locations to create a new image that’s a positive, joyous and fun reminder for those left behind.

Animal Lives

I love nature in all its forms. Animals, whether pets or in the wild, all have individual characters and characteristics. I try to capture the wonder of them in images that I hope will bring you the same sense of wonder.

Famous Lives

Inspiration comes from many places and sometimes we look to the famous to make us happy, teach us lessons or just to celebrate their achievements. So, every now and then, I paint a portrait of a celebrity, famous scientist or sports person. Who inspires you?

Plant Lives

Have you ever looked really closely at a flower or a tree? Many times I have zoomed in to discover miracles of nature that would otherwise have passed me by. The leopard spots on a Rhododendron, the exquisite 1mm orchid flowers on a weed at the side of the road, the five fingered hands that make the leaves of an acer. I capture these marvels for you to enjoy magnified to large scale.

Painting of Arbroath Harbour Sunset

Scenic Lives

The natural landscape, even when augmented by man with fields or buildings, can simply do your soul good to look at. I love to capture scenes of tranquility, usually from around my native Scotland, for you to enjoy where you are.
